Process Mapping
A process map is a graphical representation of all the activities involved in a particular work-flow. Process map should clearly document the various kinds of information required to carry out a certain activity along with the expected result and format. Process maps will act as a guide to all project stake holders and functional group staff to carry out the activity following the desired method to efficiently achieve the expected out put at high quality.
The list of components involved in developing a meaningful process map is shown below;
Context – Purpose of the process.
Activities – The list of activities that are carried out during the process.
Input – The list of supporting information (documents, forms, checklists etc) required to carryout the activity.
Resource – Parties that are responsible for each activity documented in the process.
Sequence – The sequential representation of all the activities and contingencies involved (if, then etc) in proceeding to the next step.
