BIM Modeler although is synonymous to a CAD Draftsman role in the traditional sense, this role requires to learn more than modeling and reviewing tools.
A successful BIM Modeler should be able to understand the conceptual models/sketches provided by the designer and develop a model accurately to the intended level of detail following the right templates. This requires architect/engineer level understanding of the building design and the basic construction techniques that are being incorporated.
Key Responsibilities - BIM Modeler
Key responsibilities of a typical BIM Modeler include;
Develop the BIM Model accurately showing the design intent supporting the architect/engineer.
Understand the various office documentation standards and requirements for submissions and develop accurate 2D out put from the BIM Models.
Support the BIM Coordinator during collaboration with other disciplines.
Prepare coordination models following the office graphic standards for the discipline specific model.
Document and present the design issues identified during the modeling process to the architect / engineer.
Take the initiative of advising potential resolutions and testing the design options on BIM Models to support the architect / engineer.
